Called me twice so far today. Automated voice claiming to be from Mastercard/Visa, saying that £600 has been withdrawn from my account and to press 1 immediately, as my account has been compromised. Scaremongering and fraudulent. I hung up each time.

Turned out was a distant company pretending to be local to get sales leads. As soon as the sales guy came and realised it was a big no! 2hours later and it took ages for him to get the hint and go

I am suspicious of this phone number. The man phoning spoke good English with a strong accent and was convincing. He told me he was from AV (antiviral program) and that my recent payment of £149 had not gone through. He offered me a discount policy at £29 for the next year. Re The failed bank payment, the bank itself stopped this money and when I spoke to my bank it was decided that the £149 seemed high for an anti viral program and there was a possibility of fraud. Automated message telling me my national insurance number is being suspended because it has been linked to various illegal activity and I need to press 1 to speak to an officer if I want to avoid my property being seized and myself arrested. They must think I was born yesterday as I have no intention of pressing 1 where I suspect I would be asked for lots of personal information and a payment to clear a debt I don’t have. I blocked the number instead.
