It was on his database so it must be true. They also get aggressive. Would love to stop them altogether, I would hate to think these people older members of our population.

Please stop saying this is a scam, it is NOT A SCAM. This is Nationwide's genuine calling number. They call early in the morning and late at night in order to catch people outside of work hours. If you actually think it's a scam, you ask them for their employee ID and their name, then you call your bank on their normal customer service number and you confirm the person's details PLUS the phone number they called from. I did not reach the phone before my machine kicked in but as soon as my message started the phone call was ended. I do not know anyone in this area but I do know that the scammers are now able to link on to UK landlines to fool you into thinking it is from a UK number. Yesterday I had a similar call from a number about 15 miles from home but when I picked it up there was the usual call centre pause. When I tried ringing back there was no reply.

Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. This seems to be some good working money trap, similar numbers are reported as robocalls, fake wins, scam offers (in most cases some financial offers). For sure some general call centre.
