Hal s reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don t pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It s not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.

Number unknown, which I usually ignore but as I m waiting for an overnight package I wondered if it was them calling re delivery, so I answered. It was a female caller with (what sounded like) a Chinese accent. She said she was calling on behalf of Telephone Preference Service. I didn t believe it and hung up - but they have rung another twice since then (4 hours ago.)

SCAM automated call! This number called - I didn't answer as I didn't recognise it. My voicemail picked up part of an automated recorded message, seemed to be telling me to press 1 or my National Insurance number would be 'switched off' and I would no longer be able to use it. I was cold called and told that as I was under 65 and drawing a deferred company pension I was entitled to a £1,000 pound payment. I asked who this was calling and all they would say was The helpline . I told them that I was registered with Telephone Preferences and that I should not receive such calls. I further told them to remove my name from their database.
