The number 0800 862 0818 is genuine, but everyone should always consider if a number is spoofed - try to get them to tell you something about you that they know already. Eg if they ask for your email, tell them a fake one and see if they know it's fake. If they don't, they may not be genuine.

This mobile phone is a "second phone" which has only been used to make one phone call and send one SMS text.- I've used it for data and local wifi data connections. I'm guessing there's an app or website I've used that somehow is sending these multimedia messages?

I just spoke to BT - evidently this is an international company beyond the reach of TPS, using the 01603 290004 number as a dummy call ID to mask the fact it is an international call so that it doesn t appear as International on lines with Caller ID. Is generally believed to be a scam aiming to get access to bank account details for the purposes of defrauding. Nothing BT or TPS can do - Government are the only ones with the power to stop these types of calls.
