Boiler scammers - Simply answer the call and pretend to be interested in what they are offering. You will probably be passed to a "manager" who will arrange for someone to visit you. Go along with it, make the appointment and when the salesman turns up tell him you are not interested and have wasted their time because they are wasting yours by ignoring the law and cold calling you. They hate having their time wasted This has worked for me and gives you a great feeling of having got them back.

Fraud - I was called off one number trying to get a security code that would reset my O2 account. when I refused to give the one time code to the lady she got aggressive. I said I would check with O2 customer service and if everything was ok would take up the offer. I was given this number as O2 customer services - IT IS NOT. I reported to O2 (202) and they confirmed that this was Fraud, and if I gave them the code they would have had access to my O2 account.

Asian guy going on about nuisance calls. "Well you are a nuisance call" Didn 't draw breath and carried on talking even when I tried to answer. He said I had registered with them! I denied that. Told me I should think before I speak and also that I wasn't listening to him. He had my name and address - so, he said, where would he have got them if I hadn't registered with them. I said he had stolen them. I am not a thief he shouted. Hung up and blocked the call immediately.

Female cold-caller, said she was from The Claim Finders in London. Usual stuff, knew I am a DRI member and said they could recover money for mis-selling of timeshares.
Called my elderly mum lying to her saying her washing machine insurance with D&G was ending. NOT ENDING! Spoke about a direct debit and then tried taking a one off payment from her?!?! From my knowledge in working in contact centres/sales I told her to stop the call and to do some research. SCAMMERS trying to rip off anyone they can. Pushy sales, can t even imagine what the service is like once you ve actually signed up!

Fraudsters claiming to be "Rapid Advice Specialists" who had obtained my number from "the Traffic Accident Department" (!) which keeps, so they claimed, a record of all road accidents in the UK (!) First part of the call came from a robotic voice-recording of a woman calling herself "Mollie Nelson of Rapid Advice Specialists".
