asked for me by my old name therefore I suspected call centre
SCAM: Obviously a spoofed number- supposedly calling from my local area. An Indian sounding woman announced herself and said she was calling from BT. I don't have my phone line from BT, so I put on a silly voice & asked her if it was nice where she was, or was it raining? She ended the call.

I couldn't understand the Indian sounding voice so hung up. So far they have phoned twice in the last two days and several times in the past. The strange thing about this number is the area code 01950 does not fit with the 693572 telephone number. 01950 codes telephone numbers start with 431, 460, 461, 422 or 477. As far as I am aware any telephone number starting with 69 would have a dialing code of 01595. I will treat this call as a scam until I find out otherwise, or the person calling can explain in und

Received call at 8.35 am on a Saturday when I was still asleep. No sound at other end when I answered. I have now blocked the number on my phone having read this site. Further Private call at 09.15. "Virgin Media Technical Support", telling me that there was an infection on my router, tried to get me to run the ASSOC command - this is a well-known introduction for a scammer to convince his mark that there is a computer problem. In fact, ASSOC will do nothing useful at all - they will then want you to install a remote control program so they can "fix" your computer, whereas what will happen is that they will steal your details, banking etc., and/or install ransomware which locks you out of your computer

Has rung 3 or times a day for several days. Initially I refused to answer as it was an unknown number and never left a message. Then one brief message was left, merely asking for my name but not announcing who was calling, so I have answered twice since, thrash it out with them and get them to leave me alone but each time it has been total silence. A call centre in Bridgend, judging by the code.

It was a woman who said she was from microsoft and that my pc had been sending them reports it had been hacked. The pc hasn't been on for weeks and microsoft software doesn't send these reports. This is a scam to get them access to your computer. Do not give them any personal information.
