They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. In this case the number is mostly reported in connection with accidents / insurance marketing / working in a loud industry. Block it.

These people claimed they had a cheque for me but I needed to pay £500 cash up front had to be paid by purchasing iTunes vouchers and giving them the numbers! I did this then following day they asked for a further £650 cash when I said I hadn't got the money the man got very rude and aggressive! Ended up putting the phone down on me. Tried ringing back they kept hanging up! Lost £500 and have no way of tracing the company either!
Called today. Computerised Goodbye. 1471 revealed it was 000161 226 9268.

Had a missed call from this number today. They rang me a couple of weeks ago re PPI. I told them I wasn t interested & not to call again!! I asked how they got my number... They said from an online comparison site!! I used a comparison site back in November last year to compare car insurance. So be careful what info you give out especially phone numbers. They are a nuisance! If you cant block their number just don t answer to them & hopefully they ll get the message.
