Spoke to "Dave" and to "John" who had so strong Indian accents, I think, and the background chatter in what was obviously a call centre that it was very hard to understand them. Both assured me that they were not selling anything but asked lots of personal questions. Couldn t answer any of my questions other than they got my name and address from UK publically available database.

The scammers knew all of my details - full name, address, email address, how much I'm billed each month - even my security question. They were very convincing. Just had a call from 01952 241140 - when I answered they took a few seconds to respond, suggesting a call centre. Claimed to be from Microsoft and wanted me to confirm I was the owner of this computer (I was on the phone not the computer but hey...) I confirmed it and then he asked the same question again but used my name. I confirmed it again and he hung up! Not sure what it was about but very wary.

Just had a call from these people saying I may be due compensation for PPI mis-selling. A) I m not B) If I were, I know that I can apply for it for free, instead of them taking a huge cut of it. So I just kept him hanging on with "I ll be with you in just a second" until he gave up :-)

Probably building to a scam, claimed to be BT a UK telephone provider investigating illegal activity on my internet, when I inquired as to who might be doing illegal things the caller suggested probably foreigners! The call was made at 7am in the morning to a private number, land line and one only known to family members.
They are called theclaimsteam.com. Number now barred.
