Automated voice claimed HMRC pursuing a case against me and that I should press 1 to talk to a case officer

Phone rang, I picked it up, voice garbled something as these people always do to introduce themselves. Of course I could not make out one word of it. I said "Mumble that again in English." he said, "pardon, So I said very slowly and deliberately as if talking to a two year old "Mumble that again in English." He then put the phone down. Tells me I have been identified has having and industrial injury and wants to act on my behalf. I have never had such an injury. The caller uses a Merthyr Tydfil dialling code but on interrogation turns out to be a call centre in Liverpool. I explain I am a member of TPS and don t wont to be cold called. PPI Scammers, do not respond to their text. You do not need to text STOP as you haven t opted in to anything. Texting STOP just helps the criminals by verifying that your number is in use.
