Claimed to be from HMRC about my National Insurance number and to say that my number has been involved in fraudulent activity and that they we're suspending my NI number and to press 1 to speak with an officer. I will report this to HMRC and the police action fraud website. If you get any telephone calls or text messages (including messages to say you are owed a tax refund) or ask for personal information they are scams. HMRC will never contact you in this way: https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-we
I called the number back and it gives you the option to remove your number from their calling list. Does not actually say who they are though.
SCAM/FRAUD Apparently I'm about to be arrested as a letter was returned by the HMRC and there are fraudulent actions happening - all info via automated message!!! What a load of baloney. This came straight after a National Insurance being suspended scam.

This number called my 93-year old mother-in-law at about 07:45 hrs. She told them that she couldn’t hear them. They called her back a couple of times, and tried to get her to do something on her iPad. She said she’d have to get her son-in-law to call them as she didn’t understand them. They haven’t called again since. Incident reported to local police as a vulnerable person is being targeted. This number has now been reported to BT security who have blocked it nationwide.

Called me today and after ascertaining I was the person she wanted to speak to, informed (yes! informed)me that I had worked in a noisy environment and they had been allocated a sum of money... I stopped listening, informed the caller that I was registered with TPS and no matter what excuse they could put forward, there is no way I would be doing business with any company which would deliberately ignore my wishes regarding cold calling.

Same story. About a road accident I had but caller was from Liverpool and they used an 01462 area code. Trying to get me to claim for unnecessary whip lash etc, I suspect. Blocked.
Pretending to be from the Post office and ask you to pay £1 for a package without postal stamp they are trying to deliver. Obviously trying to get your credit card and bank details.
