Automated call saying money taken from MasterCard/Visa within last 15 minutes and sent overseas. Put phone down and have now blocked.

I must have had ten calls this last week from a company calling themselves UK Preference. Today s number used was 01612228888. The voice was an Indian male and was very persistent talking over me when I told him to take me off their calling list and to stop calling me. Noticed a missed call from this number on an old mobile I d only recently put a brand new SIM into. This phone has never been used to make calls anywhere so either Tesco Mobile have started re-issuing old numbers or the calling company are chancers.

I have just been called by this number who immediately wanted to take me through security! All sounded very legit but just something in the back of my mind made me think that anyone could call up and start asking for my date of birth etc etc and why would I give that info to a complete stranger!!! I told them they needed to write to me instead (he said they already had - ha, ha) and then put the phone down. Looked up this number and guess what - loads of people who have had calls from the same number!

I always receive most unknown telephone calls altogether over a 24 hour period and then get nothing for 1-2 weeks.
