the caller(female Indian) rang asking what washing machine I used. I put the phone down. The phone range again a while later but I did not answer it, the it rang again. This time an Indian male asked what washing machine I used. I told him I did not take cold calls and put the phone down.

Scammers who claim to be from "Telephone Preference Management" and try to get your debit card details on the pretext (ironically) of blocking nuisance calls. Preying on the elderly and gullible, as usual. Nasty.
This is one of the numbers that pretends to be from the UKBA to fool international students in the UK and tell them there is something wrong with their imigration application. They have parts of your data (maybe name, zip-code etc.) and they try to get ALL of your information plus your credit card details. Do not give that information!

They will say you have outstanding tax due and try and get a payment from you over the phone.. they will even send emails with fake letters from the revenue to back there case. Got a random text from it reading "Snapchat [code] passcode for phone enrolment Never share it" If it's a phishing scam it's a bit weak, I'm not even sure where I need to enter the code to get scammed (I'm guessing it's a hyperlink) Anyhow I know it's not legit because I don't even use Snapchat

Txt came in @ 16:07 Info from- http://www.call-charges.co.uk/03308-premium-rate-phone-numbers#one Calls from landlines are typically charged between 2p and 10p per minute; calls from mobiles typically cost between 10p and 40p per minute, but they can set the rate at whatever they like. Just delete it. Don't call them back!
