Call to my landline 19:04hrs. I answered and didn t speak (my usual gig on mobiles too, when called by an unknown or unrecognised number); a man s voice said "hello, hello, hello..." then "la la la la" then hung up. Poor thing, must be driven mental by people who answer but don t engage...about time the worm turned? This line is new, ex-directory and only my Dad & Stepmum have this number. The person on the other end told me they were ringing to review my mortgage. When I told her I was uncomfortable discussing it over the phone, she got aggressive and rude. She told me my husband had requested a callback which I knew was a lie because he doesn t deal with this stuff over the net or phone!! when I said that he wouldn t have requested a callback she was really abusive and before she could hang up I told her how rude she was!! Fuming!

Had this call today in Northern Ireland. Same as everyone else. Claiming to HMRC and a warrant issued!! Very concerning elderly people that may receive the call also.
The clue is in the number. Apart from inner city London, when last I looked, all UK numbers begin with 01. Clive, Peter, Brian Stephen etc are NOT popular names in India as these people would have you believe. The bottom line is a simple one, if you don’t recognise the number, don’t answer. There’s no such thing as a free lunch
