Person took 2 attempts to get out- Chelsea from Travel Regulations. It s about the all inclusive package holiday you have been on the last 2 or 3 years. Asked if they liked lying as a job, haven t been on such a hol. I hung up.
Claimed to be from the "Pensions Review Department". I gave him short shrift.
Suspicious because the speaker sounded Indian or Asian and wanted to access my computer to ascertain its security. Said they were from TomTom but I felt very uneasy.
Called back in answer to message left saying I had a sub renewal taking place. Know nothing about it! Mumbled answer to call. Clearly a dodgy number.

My 81 year old father was targeted and asked to insure his 4 year old Indesit washing machine. Unwittingly he set up a d.debit which he cancelled the next day, with the bank, when he realised he already had cover. He rang Appliance Serve and told them too, he was asked to put it in writing which he did. He is now getting calls about his non payment and they are threateneing court action as they said they hadn t received a phone call or letter. Total fraudsters targeting the elderly. #scammers

Called back this number to find out what they want and they told me they cannot say unless they speak to the right person. They won t even tell me their company name and what they do. What company doesn t want to tell you that.

The exact number was 01340 831714. After searching it here, I called the number back. It has a BT call screener on it. A Scottish sounding older lady picked up the phone. I told her my name and said I'd had a missed call from her number at 7:47am this morning (3-3-23). Her reply? "No, not me, no you haven't" and then she put the phone down. missed call when i rang it back line just goes beep then cuts off. Bad sign - trustworthy companies have a recorded message explaining who they are, etc. Did a bit of research - very worrying. consumer websites show people being asked for their bank card details then fees being debited that they werent expecting. Sounds like a scam or at least very, very sharp practise. Avoid answering or block number, is my advice.
