This number seems to be used for a classical telemarketing, or it is a directly some general call centre. They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. In this case the number is mostly reported in connection with insurance marketing - ambulance chasers, car accidents. Block it...

Caller with foreign accent claiming to be from BT and that they were going to turn off my internet for 2 days. Hung up when I said that I was not with BT

Scam caller pretending to be from VirginMedia support and that your "router has a virus". Others have tweeted that he then tries to get you to download and install software on your PC. VirginMedia deny that the number is linked to their Tech Support and advise that it's a scam.

They called, I answered. I said hello - and they just hung up.Could be a mistake - or perhaps they are searching for someone specific: a certain gender or age or nationality.
