I called the help line 0800 085 095, of Santander my mortgage provider from my landline to make enquiries about the final payment of my mortgage. I was transferred to another line where it was suggested that I could make the final payment immediately by cards associated with my account. Caller said he was from BT and would arrange for an engineer to call round in the next 2 days to install a device that would stop nuisance calls it would last for 15 years. The cost would be a one off charge of £8. Did I want to proceed with getting my line configured. I work in the industry the caller sounded amateurish but could see how other people might be taken in.
