Probable scam They message their phone has broke starts Hi mum then asks you to message on whatsapp with a 07588 prefix They claim they are calling from a friends number If it is genuine then a child would always call soon after if you do not reply to a text message etc
Asked name and why I didn't call then dropped off. Obvious spam call, but a real nuisance as was passenger in vehicle at the time

AUTOMATED CALL: This number called and left a voicemail of an automated American male voice asking to call the the number back - the number was repeated twice by the voice then the voicemail ends.
Fraud SCAM Called me pretending to be from Amazon saying that someone had ordered an iPhone on my account. They then managed to trigger the Amazon reset password text message and pressured me to give me that code to them, presumably so that they could take control of my Amazon account. Got quite upset when I refused to give them the code

28 Nov. 2022 (17:33) a chap with Indian accent called me claiming to be from BT to say that my computer may have been compromised and that he could check that for me if I switched it on and he ran a quick check. Called 4 times today, did the whole reciting my details trick (easily obtainable by googling my office phone number) apparently offering better electricity rates. Told them I wasn t interested on all 4 occasions yet they kept calling back to ask who was providing my electric. Very insistent on getting my electricity providers name to the point it was suspicious that they wanted it so much.

Trying to dial the number gets a message that one should "check the number and try again" because the number is invalid (which I hinted at being possible). This, to me, confirms it is a scammer, attempting to appear a valid UK caller but failing as they are unfamiliar with the rules for UK phone numbers.
