An Asian voice, poor English spoken, said they were from Open Reach, and needed to check my modem. They made a give-away mistake as they got my internet provider wrong. This is the third call over the last 10 days, saying the same thing. But I didn't make a note of the number until the third time they called, which was today at 4.30 pm.

Yes, they are still operating and looks like they are having a New Year hunt for more people to con, as several friends have had calls from them over the past few days. I take great delight in stringing them along for as long as possible, listening to them get more and more frustrated as I keep asking questions about their blocking box . I know only too well that this is a scam so have no intention of accepting anything from them. To date the longest I have managed to keep one of these scum on the phone is

SCAM - Just had a call saying they were contacting me about upgrading my phone, so I wasn't best pleased about being disturbed when I'm not feeling well with a very heavy cold. I knew it was a scam straight away as there was no link to my existing provider, so I informed the caller of that and told him to "Bu**er off"! Suggest others do the same.

SCAM Phoned my elderly neighbour offering a free red emergency panic button . Knew her personal details eg. Age and address and then went on to ask for her card details to secure delivery. Pleasant well spoken lady with Far Eastern voice. When I interjected the call she professed she couldn’t hear me then put the phone down. By the way my neighbour already has a n emergency button !

He answered do you think I would be calling you if I didn’t know that, also saying he had permission from Bt to make these calls. He also added surly you need to save money. Called and offered to stop 100% of private and unknown callers for ?1.90 a month. They had some of our bank details and knowledge of our previous insurance cover of our sky box. When we refused to give bank details over the phone and we requested info to be posted, the caller refused. She gave a contact number and we then found this web site thankfully.
This number called me and then hung up. I suspect it was voice activated. I tried to call back but it wouldnt connect.
I received a call from this number just now. He said he was from a company called Technical Help Service and told me my computer had a virus. He tried to convince me using various methods including running the eventvwr (the errors listed there are not related to viruses!) This is identical to the well known Windows Technical Helpdesk scam. Told them umpteen times to stop calling my number and still they phone average two or three times a day - same story nuisance call grrr sick fed up of it.
Someone called but on answering the line went down. If it had been a bad line they would likely have called back - they didn t. Probably a scam call.
