Phone automatically blocked the number but on phoning it back got a very apologetic message basically saying the number had been hijacked by foreign scammers and that the matter was in the hands of ofcom, just block the number and give absolutely no information whatever to them as it could be used for identity fraud.

SCAM My wife received an automated call form this number to her mobile advising her that she would soon be arrested in connection with tax avoidance. The voice asked her to "press 1" to speak to someone about it. Clearly a scam of some sort.

SPAM i think this is a telephone call automated voice telling you there is something wrong with your Sky Broadband. This is the second time today (by half one pm) i’ve had this,plus one yesterday morning. We were targeted by the same people, from a different number last year, which i reported to Sky along with a load of other people. That was a call centre from Asia and the were about 10 daily. As this is automated - in fact the last was just silent- i haven’t yet reported it, but i will if they continue.
I thought that I would not receive these sort of calls having paid to have calls vetted!!

He informed me that he was ringing to test my modem and improve its performance. He asked me to type a few commands which included the word “SKY”. He then asked me to permit remote access. Fraud Called me at 8am and a robotic voice asked me to press one to be connected to an HMRC operative or else I would be arrested imminently. HMRC apparently do not ring up using automated voice technology, do not phone up to threaten arrest and are generally not phoning people unannounced at that time of day.

I got a text from what looked like my bank (Santander), saying a lot of money was being taken from my account. It gave this number 03333443057 to call. I called, and they answered HSBC ! I said I thought I was calling Santander, they said I work for both banks (yeah, right!). I said let me have your name and department, I ll call my bank and ask to be put through to you, at which point they promptly hung up.
