This number called with message about "every house needs to be done by 2016" plus "we are in your area" last week - some solar panel scam. Didn t answer - the message is recorded on my answerphone. Same message from 01316483485 yesterday - same result. This lot have probably rented fake numbers from a major phone company which offers them on its web site. Some firms offer call centres numbers which give the person called the idea that it is a local call.

Its not just AO I just received a call from a young woman claiming to be from boots appliances, in the pretence of confirming delivery details etc. In fact her sole purpose was to sell insurance cover! She repeated every detail of my delivery, which I already know, told me they can remove my old appliance, which I already know etc etc etc then asked me why my old appliance was broken! Fraud Caller purporting to be from the National Crime Agency threatening to suspend use of NI number and verification sought.
A man claimed he was from a company called "Speed" who rudely demand to know why I hadn t made a claim for the accident I d apparently been in. The last accident I d been involved in was a few years ago and upon hearing me start to explain this he hung up before I finished speaking. This is clearly a scam hoping to either get some personal details to allow them to commit identity fraud or to falsely extract money from me.

Received missed call at 18:50 which in itself is strange for a business. When I called it back there was a Click, and then a holding Jingle music started playing, as if I'd been transferred to another line. I ended the call after about 10secs. I would consider it spam

Poor reception where I was when I answered so they couldn't hear me, but they knew my name, eventually they hung up. I rang the number back later and immediately heard an automated message saying my custom was important to them and I would be answered by the next available agent but no-where in the message did they reveal who they were so hung up.
