Fraud. Got a text supposedly from GOV.UK with an https// click-in, advising me that they have identified me as being eligible for a discounted energy bill under the energy bill support scheme. Mmmm how did they know my number? why didn't I get an official letter/mmmm. No surprise really it's a fraud scam, the government doesn't text you to tell you they are giving you money,and as far as I know will never do this anyway. Why aren't they traced and shut down?

Started by asking for my wife. Told her she wasn't in. Then confirmed my name, said he was offering a call blocker for unrecognised calls for free. Mentioned that I paid for my phone bill by direct debit (who doesn't?) and then listed a load of banks, none of them mine. When I laughed he got annoyed and asked why. When I told him I didnt have any banks of that name, did he just want my sort code and account number, he was talking over me and telling me to listen!!! Cut him off. Be warned.

Number claims to be from NHS stating I have been in contact with someone who has Omicron Variant and I must order a free PCR testing kit and left a link to claim it. How would they know I have been in contact with someone with that variant? Expect it is a scam and if I clicked on the link who knows what the result might be.
