Someone one belled me from this number when I ring back no answer or engaged

A recorded message saying that apparently a transaction of £600 has been made abroad on my credit card. Should have pressed 1 or 2 to glean more information for what is an obvio...

I think this may have originated from a survey I started but stopped when I realised I would be getting a load of junk calls.

Any ideas? Seems an odd number . I don t answer numbers I don t know but this one has intrigued me.

Genuine call from Halifax fraud prevention. They noticed someone in USA somehow used my card for a very small amount £4.24 (apparently they do this to see if it s accepted) They have cancelled my card and are sending a new one straight away. Excellent service from Halifax

Just had a call very agressive and insulting people. They rang 3 times in the space of 4 minutes.

Man with Asian accent rang and told me they hadn't received my forms back for a PPI claim. This was JPS. I told him I had posted them over a week ago and he said the GPO ...

Said hello they hung up.

My local police community support officer said these stickers have been used by criminals and recommended finding a locksmith through a telephone directory or online. Never call the number on a sticker that has been afixed to your doorbell without permission. If in doubt, contact your local police.

Very aggressive attempt to interest me in IVA arrangements. They say they are calling everyone over 18. I said that must be about 40 million people, and how do they know I m over 18. She said that if I have a mobile contract I must be over 18. I said who says I have a mobile contract. I said I hadn t given permission for anyone to contact me on the number for marketing purposes. Keep ringing my number but refuse to leave a message on my answer machine. I class these calls as nuisance calls because they are unsolicited and they have no right to be ringing my private number which is exdirectory.

This number which is a Glasgow code, called and an indistinct, mumbled young female voice asked for me by name, said she was phoning from another mumbled company and had I had any accidents in my car in the last few years. I said no, and she said oh well then and hung up. Some kind of scam with bad line and mumbled names part of the act.
