Also, I just tried phoning the number back and it doesn't even exist - so somehow the scammer is making out that they are phoning from a local number to look more legit.

Told the runt that I work for Carphone Warehouse and we no longer offer EE, O2 or Three (haven't offered Three since around 2010!!). CAlled on 001463718462 @10 .03 20th March . No-one spoke but background noise sounded like a call centre. Then a male voice uttered two words "fuck off". Without the double 00 this would be an Inverness number (where I live) with a single ZERO but the double 00 makes it probably from anywhere in the world, So I'lll call it dangerous but "nasty" might be a better description.

I can only presume it was a prank call as that's twice I've had a call from this number and they've hung up as soon as I've answered on both occasions

Scam text from HSBC saying someone had tried to set up a new payer on my account and to click on a link in the text to get it fixed. Checked in my actual bank account and this didn’t happen. Sent a text to the phone number (!) and THEY blocked me!
Scam National Insurance Scam saying NI number has been compromised. Automated message, no doubt wanting the victim of the call to press one to be connected to scammers. I put the phone down when I heard the message and cut off the call. Having seen resent warnings about this scam, I was already aware of it. Don't act on the call and hang up. Government bodies don't call people in this way. BEWARE. DANGEROUS.
