This was a call from somebody purporting to be calling from the Times subscription department about a problem with my account. I was just suspicious and phoned the main Times newspaper subscription service number. They confirmed that the call from the Colchester number was genuine.

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 16181485xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI, insurance marketing, unsolicited telemarketing calls... I called Barclays on 03457 345 345 only to be told this numbers has switched to 0345 600 45 40. I called this number and followed the exact same instructions that you would normally be asked only something didn't feel quite right about it. I called back the 03457 345 345 number which worked this this time and spoke to a gentleman on the Fraud team who advised me this was not one of their numbers and this was most definitely a fraud attempt. I have now had my card cancelled and had to change my security ques
