A young Welshman phoned my mobile today. After an unusual and suspicious delay ("Hello? Hello? HELLO?") he introduced himself as representing Winchester and Deakin and said that the call concerned my credit or some such nonsense. Anyway, I d stopped listening by this time and gave him my usual " I m sorry but we don t know each other and I never do business over the phone anyway," but he interrupted me (me, the potential client, I suppose!) to say that he would "not be spoken to like that" and would get a c

I have received calls from these people every day but nobody is on the line. So I emailed them and told them to remove my ex directory number immediately as they are contravening the new Data Protection Law and one more call and I will complain and they could incur as hefty fine, if I wanted their insurance I would call them, so Google Data Protection and go on their site, There is a link where you can complain. This is harassment so let s put a stop to it.

I am getting regular silent calls from this number even though I am registered with the TPS. I have now tracked them down and the number belongs to a supposedly reputable charity fundraising organisation. I say supposedly reputable since no genuinely reputable company would make such a nuisance of themselves, especially on TPS registered numbers. Had two calls from this number. They hung up when I asked them to prove who they were in response to being asked for my security details. Spoke to Orange and demanded to have the calls stopped or as a loyal customer I will leave Orange. Lots of excuses but they accepted in end. I will leave if it happens again!
