Called saying I had been on an all inclusive holiday in the last few years. I ve never been on an all inclusive, and I only recently changed my mobile number. I asked where they got my number "we work with a number of third parties" was the only response I could get. Didn t even wait to find out what they wanted, asked to be removed from system and also blocked the number.

Selling security services. initially gave impression that they were working with police - but eventually admitted they were not.
Fraud Caller had a strong accent and spoke poor english. There was a lot of background noise as you would expect from a call centre. Asked to speak to my husband but did not mention his first name. Claimed to be from the Fraud dept of Visa Debit but did not say which bank had issued the card. She asked for no security checks. Spoke about unauthorised transaction. Called March 10 2922. Domestic appliance insurance scam. Didn't wait for all the details. Typical asian voice saying insurance was running out. Normally they offer to renew at a discount if you give them your card details. NEVER give out personal details or bank details to anyone who phones you. If in doubt find the phone number you want from an independent source and phone them.
Addressed me by full name also. Local country code and evening call, but sounded like a big call centre in background. Asked about industrial hearing injuries.

Three possibilities : they bought the number for their business from a telecoms provider, they hijacked it from a genuine user, or they spoofed it.
