As stated by Max above - The caller said he was calling from British Gas and said they have had technical issues and they need my electricity meter numbers. I work in the energy industry and I am aware they can access this via the national electricity database (ECOES) - as my supplier they are fully entitled to use this. I challenged him and he continued to give excuses. I then terminated the call.

This number is becoming a dangerous nuisance. Surely these people know when they call us the number they call is into a direct Trauma Centre. Then to hang up and for a member of staff to use precious time trying to make a contact in case it may be life threatening is even more annoying. We can understand how the general public feel with some of these stupid UNLAWFUL calls from these people are made. I sometimes wonder if these are not generated from Government Departments as calling back is blocked by music

Like another person wrote on here, I said no to the insurance on the website, the person was friendly enough and accepted no thanks, but I didn t consent to my number being used in that way, only for delivery info (i.e. time slot) to be given. Always ask them security questions, they got the order number correct and I don t know if there is a scam where they say they ll take away the old appliance for free, and then somehow charge you or possibly sign you up for insurance even though you said no, idk. I have been getting calls from this number and I blocked them on iPhone. Then they call from another number. It s the same people selling insurance or saying you had accident!! They never leave messages, can t call the number back as there is no ring and no one picks up! It s a scam number run by scam group. I am very annoyed because they used my name when they spoke to me. Said it was HMRC. Threatened legal action. Wording used - something like "face the consequences" shows it up as a scam. Also a recorded mechanical voice.
