Indian/Pakistani sounding clearly calling from a call centre not in the U.K. as he had me on speaker phone and could hear him speaking with someone else as I answered the call. He asked for someone I don’t know. I told him I didn’t know the person and he got rude and aggressive with me before hanging up. I’ve blocked the number.

The point of the scam is to find gullible people who will believe what they say. They are crooks who once they find a victim will ask them for personal details and /or credit card/bank details "So we can proceed with our refund to you" They then commit identity fraud or empty your bank account. Obviously you were the ones they were looking for for them to steal your hard earned money from. These people handle "deceased accounts" on behalf of Eon in UK. (I suspect they buy the debt). They also seem very interested in probate matters - perhaps they gain extra business this way. However - was pleasant call (got my number from Eon - I am Mum s executor), and they were not chasing payment just establishing status.
