Getting several calls a day from this number which will not respond (number not known) when called back. I have a hardware blocking device which stops unwanted calls from ringing but they show on the call register nonetheless.

Called today and when I answered they hung up - sounded like an office in background - putting it down as usual scam/time wasting call.

Left a answer machine message on a work phone claiming to be HRMC conducting an investigation into a fraud matter concerning the organisation we work for and asking to ring the number back.

PPI wanting to refund me for a ?5000 loan I took out in 2004. Concerning thing, they knew my actual name. I certainly didn t take out a loan with anyone. Time wasting PPI company from India by the sounds of it. 2nd call today.

A woman rang saying she was from St Helens; some recycleing company. Said she could get a grant for windows, doors conservatories or boilers. Said she would ring back later. Immediatley the phone went down a man rang. Think this is some kind of hard sell/ scam type of call.

I don t answer calls from unknown numbers, but look them up on the Internet. Having read other people s comments I m pleased I didn t answer. Thank you all for your comments. They really helped.

Very pushy but convincing girl at the end of the phone - said they were calling because I had entered a competition to win a trip to New York and so was eligible for ten free lines on Euro Millions. Sounded vaguely legitimate until she started asking me for personal details - date of birth, etc... "to confirm I was over 18".
