just got a call from this number. the man on the other line - someone name john something - said he was calling from "Allied Interstate" about an unpaid debt. I said that he must be mistaken as I don t have any debt. He said "we will see" and asked for personal information. I hung up. Obviously not trustworthy!

The point of the scam is to find gullible people who will believe what they say. Scam call (automated) saying that there was illegal activity on my broadband and that I was going to be disconnected if I did not connect with their technical support.
Asked for me by name and said they were from Legal & General in regards to my life insurance policy and a possible reduction due to COVID. As soon as I said are you sure since I know I don't have a policy with them they just hung up.

I am pretty sure this is a dangerous scam....Informing me not by any name, that they are from fraud team investigating my insurance number which has been suspended due to being stolen and used !!!!!!! Just to say ignor this as they ask you to speak to one of their officers !!!!!!!!!!!! Which then I presume will request all your personal details etc. You would never be contacted in this way by a government dept.
