Weird. When I answered, a recorded message said that the caller is unable to take your call. I don t know if it is genuine or a scam but I have never had this happen before.

Hal s reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don t pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It s not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.

I was called on my mobile by this number on Friday morning 22/11/13 - they hung up when i answered. I was cold called and told that as I was under 65 and drawing a deferred company pension I was entitled to a £1,000 pound payment. I asked who this was calling and all they would say was The helpline . I told them that I was registered with Telephone Preferences and that I should not receive such calls. I further told them to remove my name from their database.
