Usual thing - one quick part-ring then disconnect. The idea being to get you to ring high-cost number back. Don t - no reputable caller with something worth saying would call you from (or appearing to be from) an 0843 number.

My husband has unfortunately been duped by this company - Clearview partnership. Started with hard sale on Carbon emmisions and he unfortunately has since gone on to invest large sums of money in gems and oil. Portfolio of investment was supposed to go to auction Dec 13. This number shows as International and 01274792012... Said it was a quick survey, I asked where they got my details from and they said public source. They knew my name, address, postcode and phone number. Fairly obvious that they are identifying opportunities for onward selling. I think the only reason I have a home phone these days is for junk/spam calls. Another one for the block list.
