Twice in one day re an accident I did not have

Called re: a (fictional) car crash that my housemate was supposedly in (bill payer for the phone line). Only have his title and his last name. When asked when the accident happened they say 'in the last few years' and when asked for the address of the company they only say 'South West London'. When I said that we were registered with the Telphone Preference Service and the unsolicited call was illegal and could they add the number to their Do Not Call list, they hung up

Seems to be used for some really wide-scope telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 118328xxxx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with very sophisticated robocalls, sometimes classical RTA - ''you have been in a car accident'', sometimes Microsoft support - general computer support, in most cases unsolicited. This number has tried calling me several times in the last couple of weeks; this is the first time I've answered as I didn't recognise the number but suspected it to be a nuisance or unsolicited call. Boiler scammers - Simply answer the call and pretend to be interested in what they are offering. You will probably be passed to a "manager" who will arrange for someone to visit you. Go along with it, make the appointment and when the salesman turns up tell him you are not interested and have wasted their time because they are wasting yours by ignoring the law and cold calling you. They hate having their time wasted This has worked for me and gives you a great feeling of having got them back.
