Phone rang, silence then a click. They almost got my name right and told me they would be sending me a letter with a refund from a recent financial transaction, didn't specify which one. I suggested that the caller was probably better off seeking gainful employment elsewhere and should stop wasting both my and her time. I have no doubt this is a scam or con.

Some guy from Credit Tax Refund telling me about how I was owed £300 from HMRC, but then asked my name. "If you don't know my name, how do you know I'm owed £300?" Apparently the HMRC gave them my phone number. Phone put down.

They then run something that shows banking details and they direct you to go to your online banking so they can assist in fixing your security with your banking.
