Called re: a (fictional) car crash that my housemate was supposedly in (bill payer for the phone line). Only have his title and his last name. When asked when the accident happened they say 'in the last few years' and when asked for the address of the company they only say 'South West London'. When I said that we were registered with the Telphone Preference Service and the unsolicited call was illegal and could they add the number to their Do Not Call list, they hung up

Call center sales cal for utilities - supposedly - didn't stay with call long enough to realy find out. I'm TPS registered and while most people know that TPS is a fairly useless paper tiger, registration does achieve one thing because reputuable companies do not call registered numbers with cold calling sales calls.
Said was from BT and someone had been using my internet connection. As I am not with BT and have fibre to the home from a non BT source, I very impolitely told him to go forth and multiply.
This number seems to be used for a classical telemarketing, or it is a directly some general call centre. They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. In this case the number is mostly reported in connection with financial management - loans / debts.
