Automated call claimed to be my internet provider (did not say which one) and that due to illegal activity on my line would close my link in the next 24 to 48 hours unless I pressed 1 on the phone keypad (which I declined to do). I did not respond but left line open until caller ended the call.

PPI/Bank Charges claim company. Latest one is Endowment Policies. Aside from just hanging up, I find the best course of action with these guys is to just lie to them. Give them made-up details so they waste their time with fruitless nonsense. Tell them you paid PPI on a Swiss bank account with ?10m in funds given to you by a Nigerian prince. Keep calm and tell absurd lies, and this kind of call actually starts to be a lot of fun!
Silent response when call was answered and caller disconnectedwithin a few seconds. They called back within a minute to which I did not answer.
They asked for my name and if I had a life insurance. I said thank you but I am not interested. They replied on a very rude way: "I am not asking you if you are interested or not, just if you have or not a life insurance". I said no thanks, and goodbye. I doubt that would be the best way to communicate with customers...

Namely it solicits the person receiving the call to press 1 on their phones to seek help in avoiding Internet cut off within a timeslot of 4hrs usually.
