We've had numerous scam calls in one day (from this number and others all in a short period) claiming to be from various utilities or directory listing companies trying to get details from our company about providers and meters, etc. One man used profanities at me and another shouted and both hung up when I confronted them.

Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 17928236xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with PPI claims call centre from Swansea, insurance marketing. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new? I really don't answer unknown numbers and don't want to call them back...
Definitely a scam. BT, Openreach, TalkTalk, Virgin etc., will never call you about a technical issue unless you contact them. NEVER call unknown numbers back. If you do so, y...
