Sounds very much like a scam....... Rang about an accident I had last year - which I didn't.
i have has several calls a day in the last couple of weeks from this "company" asking for someone ive never heard of,my landline is ex directory,when told this they say its the number they have been given for contact by this person,ive told them they are wrong,go check the address they have for this person,then check the electoral role for who lives at my address,,they replied with"we have no address for the client as it was done online,,what utter rubbish,ive had enough and im losing patience

Fraud amazon prime scam. Do not follow up, do not press 1. "The scam sees people receive an automated call, telling them that they've been charged for an Amazon Prime subscription. To cancel, all they need to do is ‘press 1’ - but after they do that they're directed to a fraudster posing as an Amazon customer service representative. The fraudster then asks for more details, and often asks you to download an application to your machine to cancel - at which point they cash in."

Call centre stating that I may be eligible for loft insulation / help with my heating bills under a new government scheme. Caller went on to ask if I was a home owner and if I worked full time or if I was entitled to any tax credits and whether my heating was mains fed or fuel. When I stated that my house was mains fed I was advised that I don't qualify. The call ended.

Had a call today at 12.31 from this number, with a particularly nasty scam. He told me his name was "Peter" (though his accent was asian) and that he was from the "computer licensing department". He informed me that my computer has been running from two IP addresses and that it would be shut down if I didn t act. Rang my landline today and an automated message said that our phone would be cut off in 24 hours. As we pay by direct debit every month, it cannot be true. It said we should push 1 for BT or 2 for any other supplier. We think it was that scam where they try to get bank details. it rang back twice within ten minutes. We didnt answer either call.

Wanted to talk about my life insurance policy but said it was an "AIG policy" which it isn't. When questioned on this he repeated the same thing once and then stealthily changed it to say he was working with my provider and AIG. Double checked and the two companies don't appear related. He then started on the spiel where he called it a personal policy which it isn't. Let him continue to waste his time and then told him the truth when he asked at which point he hung up on me. Total scam BS.
